nisons Kirkegaard (garrison churchyard) (PI. C. 10), laid out in 1711. Following the main walk you perceive a tall obelisk, erected over fallen warriors from the two Sleswic wars, and opposite to it a stone mound erected in commemoration of Danish soldiers killed in the war 1864. In this churchyard is also a number of graves of renowned officers, who have served with honour in the wars 1848—49—50 and 64. On the opposite side of Osterbrogade is the entrance to llolmens Kirkegaard (churchyard) (PI. C. 10), the oldest churchyard in the city, consecrated 10. Aug. 1666. Here is, amongst others, the sepulchral mound over the he­ roes, who fell in the battle on the roads of Copenhagen on Maundy Thursday 2. April 1801. On the top of the mound is a marble obelisk with the few and simple, but significant words: „They fell for their country on the 2nd of April 1801“ . From the main entrance of the churchyard you pass across Osterfarimagsgade and further by Osterbrogade to the landing place for the electric boats, which run during the summer. The trip across the lakes (Sortedams & Peblinge) through or at any rale as far as D r o n n i n g L o u i s e s b r i d g e is highly to be recommended. In Itavnsborggade, close to Dronning Louises Bro (the Queen Louisa bridge), stands N orreb ro T h ea tre (PI. a. E. 7), further along Norrebrogade A s s is te n s K irk eg a a rd (cemetery) to the left, consecrated in 1760. Turning to the right from Dronning Louises Pro you have before you the l o w e r b u i l d i n g s , which look rather fine. On the lawn to the right of the bridge on the lownside stands a bronze group representing the »Nile- God«, presented by Mr. Carl Jacobsen, the proprietor of Ny-Carlsberg brewery. You now continue along the broad Frederiksborggade, and arrive after five minutes walk at the Boulevard. From here across Kultorvet (square) by Kjobmagergade to Run d e t a a r n (round tower) (PI. G. 9). Admission see newspapers. It was erected by Christian IV and was originally an astronomical observatory. Height 111 feet. It consists of an outer and an inner round-wall.
