Vesterbro. This was the King’s private carriage way out to his country residence Frederiksberg Palace, where the kings, from Frederik IV, who erected it in the years 1700—1710, until Frederik VI (d. 1839), often lived here. The palace has now for a number of years been used as a school for military officers. The extenisive grounds, formerly the palace gardens, w ith the magnificent old trees reflected in the tranquil waters of the canals, are of great beauty; truly a royal park, the possession of the people, and appreciated and admired as always, it is the whole year round daily visited by thous- ands of the inhabitants.
