-banded veteran, presented to the committee, his three only marks !# Among those who, afterwards, essentially ■contributed to increase the fund, was Mr. Knudsen, an actor, belonging to the Theatre- Royal. Being an excellent vocal performer, he determined on giving selections of music, in the different churches throughout the king dom, for the benefit of those who had suffered in the battle. The solemn ceremony was attended with this appropriate pageantry.— An urn was raised in the midst of the church, surmounted by the Danish flag and pendant. A number of young maidens, dressed in white, stood around it, accompanied, either by some individual who had been wounded, or the widow and orphans of one who had fallen in the battle. The rector delivered a suit able discourse, and in the concert Mr. Knudsen gave some of the most patriotic songs. A cer tain sum was settled for admittance, but most people exceeded the demand.*
