We passed Soeborg- lake, which supplies the city with water; it is conveyed through a brook to the Lake of Em- drup, whence it runs through a canal into three reservoirs near Copenhagen. This lake, how­ ever, being almost choaked up with sedge and peat, a number of gentlemen have entered into a subscription to have it drained, and a wind­ mill has been erected for the purpose. It is probable the steam engine was deemed too ex­ pensive, but I should have thought Dr. Dar­ win’s machine for raising water, would have been extremely applicable on this occasion.
