Farum (across the neck of land by Fiskebsek the boat [the so-called amphibium-boat] moves on wheels). From F r e d e r i k s d a l to L y n g b y you may walk by Prinsessestien along the L y n g b y So or drive by L o t ten- faor g to Lyngby, or leave the carriage at Fredriksdal and take the boat through the canal of the fortress, by which the water in case of a siege of Copenhagen is to be led in from Foreseen to submerge the surrounding plains. From the romantic canal which is hemmed in by wooded hills you pass into Lyngby So, and at last, after shooting the railway bridge, you arrive at the landing-pier close to Lyngby railway station. Should you prefer driving, take the road past Hummeltofte whence you will come into open country; on the right, especially on looking back, you will obtain a splendid view of Lyngby So. From L o t t e n b o r g where there are refreshment-rooms, you drive straight to the main-entrance of the beautiful little castle S o r g e n f r i S l o t (erected in the commencement of last century; the garden was laid-out by P r i n c e F r e d e - rik heir apparent to the throne). A beautiful park with many line statues and walks especially along the pictu­ resque m i l l - s t r e am . (The path along the stream runs as far as 11rede, O r h o l m (restaurant) and S o l l e r o d ) . After a promenade in .the beautiful park you take the road » K o n g e v e j e n « to the left to Lyngby (Hotel Lyngby, Hotel Rustenborg, Hotel Hold an) a homely little town with many beautiful oldfashioned country-houses. On the left the line prominenl church. From this place back to Copenhagen by train (see »Reiselisten«). Frederiksborg-Fredensborg—Helsingor (Elsinore).
