In the tower are 5 bells, of which one »Hoj tid s k l o kk e n« (the feast-bell) was taken during the war with Sweden in 1676. It burst when tolling the mourning peal for King Frederik VI. Going from the church to the left by Prinsessegade, you arrive at the navy-yard ( Orl ogs vaerftet); special permission by the ministry is required to gain admittance; only on special occasions, for instance when a ship is being launched, admittance is free to all. Here are several interesting buildings, of which may be named the old guard-room with a tower in shape of a crown, and the huge mast-crane now used as a beacon. Further the collection of models, which recalls to memory the glorious history of Denmark’s naval warfare. Here we find the models of the vessels of Tor- denskjold, Niels .fuel and Ivar Huitfeld and a number of old hi­ storic objects, as a piece of keel, found at Ebeltoft in 1893, which belonged to a Danish man of war that was destroyed there in 1659; a tin basin taken up from the wreck of Ivar Huitfeldts „Dannebrog“ , blown up in Kjogebugt on 4. Oct. 1710; a ship’s bell from the line of battle-ship „Christian den otten d e“ , blown up in Eckcrnlbrde Bay in 1849; silk ribbons, with which the wreaths of flowers were fastened, which were laid down on the monument of Vice-Admiral Suenson by Austrian officers, his noble adversaries at Helgoland, who paid a visit here in 1890 etc. The oldest vmodel of the collection dates from the time about 1670. The collection contains 263 objects. Going from the church to the right by Prinsessegade and turning to the right by Torvegade you arrive at Chri - s t i a n s h a v n s Torv. Grossing this you arrive at the ca­ nal, and by following it to the left along Overgade o. Van- del the wall is reached. This was laid out by Christian IV in 1617 and is the last remnant of the old fortification of Copenhagen. Ascending the parapet of the wall and continuing to the right along the footpath you have be­ fore you Ama g e r fee l i ed (the Commons of Amag), where a small arms factory and several other buildings have been erected during the last few years, and Kalvebodstrand (the expanse of water between Amag and Zealand).
