26 feldt sacrificed the lives of himself and his sailors of his own free will in Kjogebugt on the 4. Oct. 1810 in order to save the Danish fleet. His ship „Dannebrog“ was in flames and he preferred perishing to taking shelter with the rest of the fleet, which he was afraid of setting on fire. The ship was blown np and everybody on board suffered a heroic death. Around the monument are grouped fragments of old cannons, which have afterwards been picked up near the spot where the „Danncbrog“ foundered. From the 11uitfeldt monument we proceed to the Re staurant L a n g e l i n j e s Pa v i l i o n , a little further on is the »Camera Obscura« admission 25 0re, then a small harbour for pleasure yachts with boat houses for the scullers of the row-clubs. The F r e e Po r t was made from 1891— 94 and was opened on 9. Novbr. 1894. It has three main basins of which one has a depth of 30 feet. Here are two berths for the steam ferry bet ween Copenhagen—Malmo. Of the numerous warehouses and other buildings (erected from plans by architect Erik Schiodte) the Silo warehouse is the most imposing in appearance.
