and the immediate grounds in which the palace stands are not accessible to the public. T h e c o l l e c t i o n consists of the belongings of the Oldenborg kings, an innumerable quantity of works of art and precious objects, dresses, arms and ornaments, which in the beginning of the 19th century were arranged, and have later been aug- mented with pr oper ty which belonged to earlier and later kings. The oldest part of the collections there- fore is older than the castle ,itself, but from the time of Christian IV and onward all the furniture and objects are arranged chronologically and exhibited in rooms exactly corresponding to the respective periods thus giving an excellent illustrative cul- tural historical picture of the period of each King. The collection together with »The Danish Folk­ museum« forms the continuation and conclusion of the »Old Nordic Museum« (the Danish collection of the National Museum). T h e c o l l e c t i o n has been temporarily in- stalled in a private building with only a limited space, until such time af an arrangement can be effected for its installation in a public building. The museum forms in part a continuation of the Danish section of the National Museum and partly a supplement to the collections in the Rosenborg castle (see above). The objects and arrangements illustrate the cultural development in Denmark from about 1660 to the present day, mainly l}y means of a number of interiors from burgher and peasant liomes illustrating indoor life: a »Pisel« (best room) from Holstein with carved oak panel- ling; two burgher renaissance rooms from Aal­ borg, likewise with oak panelling; a Samsoe room: two Zealandic peasant rooms with painted panel­ ling; an Amager room with inlaid panelling etc. Fu rther a quantity of furniture, household utensils, textiles, dresses, guild objects and domestic indu­ strial work of the common people. Aar- hundrede blev ordnet og senere er bleven forøget med adskillige Stykker, der har tilhørt tidligere og senere Konger. Den ældste Del af Samlingen er saaledes ældre end Slottet, men fra Christian IV’s Tid og frem efter er alle Møbler og Genstande kro­ nologisk ordnede og opstillede i Værelser, der nøje svarer til Genstandenes Tid og giver et meget an­ skueligt, kulturhistorisk Billede af hver Konges Periode. Samlingen danner tillige med »Dansk Folkemuseum« Fortsættelsen og Afslutningen paa »Oldnordisk Museum« (Nationalmuseets danske Samling). A d g a n g : 1. Jun i—30. September daglig fra 10—3; 1. Museet danner dels en Fortsættelse af Nationalmuseets danske Afdeling, dels et Sup­ plement til Samlingerne paa Rosenborg Slot (se ovenfor). Genstande og Opstilling illustrerer Kul­ turudviklingen i Danmark fra Tiden omkring 1660 til vore Dage, hovedsagelig gennem en Række Interiører fra Borger- og Bondehjem, der viser Li­ vet inden Døre: en »Pisel« (Stadsstue) fra Holsten med udskaaret Egepanel; to borgerlige Renaissan- cestuer fra Aalborg, ligeledes med Egepanel; en Samsø-Stue; to sjællandske Bondestuer med malet Panelværk; en Amagerstue med indlagt Panel­ værk, o. s. v. Desuden en Mængde Møbler, Husge- raad, Tekstiler, Dragter, Lavsgenstande og Almue Husflidsarbejder. A d g a n g daglig 11—3. 50 Øre. Opmærksomheden henledes paa Museets F ri- landsafdeling, hvis gamle Bondegaarde, Huse og Hytter med omliggende Haver er overordentlig smukt beliggende i Nærheden af Lyngby (se ne- Dansk Folkemuseum.
