From Broenshoey we proceeded through the village of Uttersloev, to the Assistance Church Yard this is a square piece of ground which was some years ago enclosed by a brick wall, for the interment of the poor. Rows of lime trees divided the church yard, at equal distances, into allotments, for the dif ferent parishes. When these trees began to shade the graves of the indigent, the opulent envied them their place of repose, and marble monuments rose above the crosses of wood, those humble memorials of the poor.
