Jesu Hjaerte Church (The church of Jesu Heart) (route 7) in Stenosgade, b u ilt by the foundation of Set. Knud, which is the owner of it. The church is in gothic style with a fine interior, a flagging, fi­ gured like a carpet and w ith allegoric figures. Splendid glasspaintings, 3 altars. The main alta r is with wings and w ith the Jesu H eart statue in the middle and pictures of saints on the wings. Admis­ sion all day. Alexander Newsky church, the Russian church in Bred- gade, (route 2) was b uilt by the Czar Alexander I I I and attracts the attention by its 3 gilt, pear-shaped cupolas above the front. The interior of this church is exceedingly rich ornamented, decorated according to the Russian and Byzantine style. The Synagogue (map 1) is si­ tuated in K rystalgade and built in oriental style in 1833. The interior has a coffered ceiling and on the long sides balconies for the women. In the eastern wall is a. niche, in which the Pentateuch w rit­ ten on parchment is kept in the holy locker, and where the eternal lamp is burning. Hi :!: *
