I t is finely decorated with pain­ tings and stucco, the same as the beautiful »IIavesal«. The royal family as a rule resides here in the fall. D uring the reign of Christian IX the Fre- densborg Palace was renow­ ned as the rendez-vous of the princely families of Europe. When not inhabited, the palace is accessible upon ap­ plication to the assistant, who is living close by the pa­ lace. The Admission is paid w ith 2 K roner for 1—0 per­ sons and 4 K roner for 7'—12 persons. Associations and

schools pay according to spe­ cial agreement. The park of the palace, considered the most beautiful park in Denmark, laid out in old English and French style, was planned in its present form by Jardin i 1700. From this time too are most of the big sculptures in the park, chiefly by Johannes Wiede- 'loolt, who made the two big vases and the Four Seasons, standing near the palace, the two colossal statues, represen­ ting Denmark and Norway and the group of Perseus and Andromeda, etc. The grand avenues of trees (f. i. the avenue of the sigh­ ing) are much admired by the tourists.
