THE CITY OF ODENSE has 80,000 inhabitants, with suburbs 97,000 inh.; the second greatest industrial centre of Denmark. Direct railways and roads to the other 7 towns of Funen. Engineering works and iron foundries, slipway for vessels to 500 t ownweight. Pilotstation at the entrance to the firth and by "Stige." Pilotage is compulsory between "Stige" and the harbour for ships over 80 b. r. t. The harbour is open for navigation all the year, and there are regular lines to many towns.
