ESBJERG HARBOUR situated on the West Coast of Jutland and protected by the island of Fanoe, is the largest agricultural export outlet and fishing port in Denmark. The entr ( ance to Esbjerg is through the Graadyb fairway — between the peninsula Skallingen and the island of Fanoe-marked by lights and buoys. The harbour dues are very moderate. Vessels calling at the port for bunkering incur no harbour dues when the stay does not exceed more than two days. The depth of water in the fairway leading to the port is 26 ft., depth in the traffickable harbour up to 29 ft., and in the fishing harbour 19 ft., at high water. The difference daily between ebb and flood is 4 ft. , silos, pneumatic grain elevators, oil of lifting up to 15 tons. Daily connexion(Sundaysexcep- ted) with Harwich, and fast regular services are maintained with Grims- by, London, Antwerp, Dunkirk and Hamburg. The distance Dover-Esbjerg is 20 mifes shorter than Dover-Ham- burg.
