Middelfart, at the „Lille Belt“ on the Northwest coast of the island of Funen, has a harbour depth of 24 feet. About 7000 inhabitants. Nakskov, is situated on the West coast of the island of Lolland. The depth of water is 21 feet (see page 1265 in Vol. I). A floa- ting dock with 8500 tons lifting capacity. Large shipyards. Export of condensed milk etc. About 14,000 inhabitants. Haderslev, is situated at the Haderslev Fjord in South Jutland and is the largest town in the part of Slesvig regained after the war. Depth of the navigable part of the fiith 21 feet, minimum breath of bottom 85 feet. Depth of harbour from 11,5 to 21 feet, total length of piers 3035 feet, height 4.5-6,5 feet. Rails and electric light at all the piers. Motor and steam tug-boats at hånd at reasonable prices (see also page 1209 in Vol. I). About 14.000 inhabitants. Helsingør (Elsinore), at the Northern entrance of the Oresund has ferry steamer connection with Helsingborg in Sweden and is mueh frequented by steamers for coaling. State harbour with 26 feet depth of water. Large shipyards. About 16,000 inhabitants. Hobro, in North Jutland at the Mariager Fjord. In the vicinity large cement works. Depth of harbour 19 feet (see page 1228 in Vol. I). About 6000 inhabitants. Holbæk, is situated in Sealand at the Hol- bækFjord, a branch of thelsefjord. Depth of harbour 18 feet. Heigth of piers 7 feet, total length 1705 feet. Loading and unloa- ding effeeted by stevedores at fixed rates. Grain elevator and warehouses. Rails all along the piers (see also page 1229 in Vol. 1). About 11,000 inhabitants. Horsens, is situated at the head of the bay of the same name on the East coast of Jutland. Depth of harbour 23 feet (see page 1235 in Vol. I). Large Manu- factory of telephone apparatus. Con­ siderable textile and other manufacturing. About 28,000 inhabitants. Kallundborg, on the North-West coast of the island of Sealand. Depth of harbour 22,5 feet, heigth of piers 5-6 feet, total length 2460 feet. Bonded warehouse. Silo warehouse. Grain elevator. Transportable electric discharging winch. Crane. Electric light ashore and for the use on board the ships (see also page 1245 inVol. I). About 6500 inhabitants. Kolding, at the head of the Kolding Fjord on the East coast of South Jutland. Depth of harbour 23 feet (see page 1251 in Vol. I).About 21,000 inhabitants. Korsør, on theWest coast olJSealand at the „Store Belt“ has ferry steamer connection with Nyborg. Depth of harbour26 feet (see page 1256 in Vol. I). A sal vage steamer is stationed in the harbour. About 9000 inhabitants.

Aabenraa, situated at the Aabenraa Fjord in South Jutland (Slesvig). Depth of har- bour 18 feet. Large Shipping establish­ ments. About 8500 inhabitants. Aalborg, situated at the Limfjorden in the North of Jutland. Depth of harbour 24,5 feet (see page 1141 in Vol. I) Regular steam ship connection with Argentinean and Brazilean places. Largest cement works in Scandinavia. The town has about 42,000 inhabitants, with suburbs 52,000. Aarhus, next to Copenhagen the largest town in Denmark, situated on the Fast coast of Jutland at the bay of Aarhus (Kattegat). The depth of the water is 24,5 feet in the Northern, 27 feet in the Southern harbour. Considerable banking, exporting and importing concerns. The town has about 75,000 inhabitants, with suburbs 82,000. Assens, on the West coast of the island of Funen at the„LilleBelt“.Depth of harbour 23 feet. Daily boat connection with Ha­ derslev in South Jutland. About 4700 inhabitants. Esbjerg, is situated on the West coast of Jutland, behind the island of Fanø. State harbour (artificial), consisting of partly a dock basin, partly an outside harbour and partly a traffic harbour. At high water there are 28 feet of water. Regular steam ship connection with Grimsby, Harwich, Antwerp, Dunkirk and Hamburg of great importance to export of Danish agricultural produces andfifh. About 23,000 inhabitants. Faaborg, on the South coast of the island of Funen. Depth of harbour 20,5 feet. Daily boat connection with Sønderborg in South Jutland (island of Als). About 5000 in­ habitants. Fredericia, at the entrance to the „Lille Belt“ from the Kattegat. Junction for railways from North, South, East and West. Depth of new harbour 25 feet, old harbour 18,5 feet. Total length of piers in the commercial harbour 2378 feet. 2 pilots (for Frederikshavn, Kieler Fjord, Helsingør). Crane, lifting 8 tons, discharging capacity 40 tons an hour. Rails on both sides of the harbour. Elec­ tric light ashore and for the use on board the ships. (see also page 1196 in Vol. I). Yearly fairs for all Denmark (Dansk Kobestævne) are held here. The popu­ lation is about 18,000. Frederikshavn, is situated on the East coast of North Jutland. State harbour with 26 feet depth of water. A lloating dry dock with 1700 tons lifting capacity.
