T HE FREE PORT is ideally situated with direct and easy access from the Sound, and the port is, thanks to the total absence of tide, navigable at any hour of the day. The land area amounts to 51,8 hectares, the water area to 34,2 hectares, and the bulwark length to 5126 meters. The Free Port is provided with a most extensive railway system linking up all quays and ware- houses with the Danish State Railways. The Free Port accomodates two Silo warehouses and a covered floor area of nearly 200,006 □ meters. The Free Port is provided with 43 electrical eranes, 6 steam eranes, 3 grain elevators, one pneumatic grain discharge plant, and numerous goods elevators and other mechanical devices. The depth of water is up to 9,5 meters; a new basin with a depth of 10 meters is now eon- structed, but not yet incorporated. The advantages of The Copenhagen Free Port with regard to custom dues are summed up in the faet that the customs authorities in no way interfere with the loading or discharging, repacking or transhipment of goods inside the confines of The Free Port. Goods for Danish consumption are, of course, subject to custom duties. On application, The Free Port Company Ltd. will issue to the owner of the goods ware- house warrants. The Copenhagen Free Port is the terminus or port of call of a very large number of the big oversea steamship lines. The Copenhagen Free Port is not only the cheapest, but also the quickest port of call in the North of Europe. Transitgoods are warehoused free of charge for about a fortnight.
