THE PORT OF HORSENS is situated down the Horsens Fjord on the east ooast of Jutland in the Southern part of the Cattegat and is consequentlg through the Little Belt in close oonnexion with the Kiel Canal and through the Great Belt in close connexion with the Baltic Sea. The access to the harbour is through a broad fjord provided with fixed leading light buogs in approach, enabling the port to be navigated both b« night as well as by day. The ordinary depth of water in the fjord and in the harbour is 23 ft., flood and ebb variations slight. On all quays there are railway tracks connecting directly with the State Railways through Jutland and with a private railway net representing 10% of the railways of the country. The town and harbour constitute the centre for a very considerable part of the most fertile meadow-land of the country; here Ihe firs t co-operative pig factory was built and here is to be found oneof the largest co-operative butter export business in the country. From here condensed milk and cream are exported to all parts of the world. There are several crane plants for the discharge of bulk goods (cargoes), both grain, coal and also general goods. Along,Vjthe quays of the^harbour there are extensive areas well suited for the

erection of industrial plant and warehouses, and for the temporary discharge of cargo.

The port is of course provided with the ordinary facilities for handling cargo. The town has several large engine works, and factories specializing in dairy plant, the production of oxygen, hydrogen and com- pressed air, and the impregnation of sleepers, telegraph and telephone poles.
