The V esterb ro e’s T h e a tre , built in 1834, is situate outside of the W est G a te , and can ac­ commodate about 1400 persons. T ivo li, a summer place of amusement, situate outside the W est G a te , on the left immediately after passing over the drawbridge, was first opened in 1843. It was planned and laid out under the direction of Georg Ca.rstensen , (who, as it now appears, is the successful competitor in a plan for the Exhibition - Building at New Y ork), and has proved a tolerable speculation to the share-holders. Concerts are given every evening by an excellent O rchestra under the direction o f Mr. L u rn b y e , in the large Concert H all of the gardens.
