is finally the excellent electric boats on the lakes, one of the greatest beauties of Copenhagen. The tourist really interested in the study of municipal insti tutions will find much in C openhagen worthy of his notice. The standard of public education is unusually high; the in struction given in the free schools is most comprehensive, and the teachers are men of acknow ledged ability. The school- buildings are large, commodious, adm irably adapted to their purpose, and possess all the most m odern improvements. The Copenhagen hospitals are so well arranged and a p pointed that it will interest foreign doctors to pay them a visit. Some of the prisons too are models in their way. The P oo r Law G uardians have at their disposal vast blocks of buildings, and everything possible is done to ensure that the poo r shall receive considerate and hum ane treatment. The Copenhagen fire brigade is perhaps the most popu lar of all the municipal institutions: every one turns out to see them tear th rough the streets.
