Near to* the Monument of Luther is one of liis zealous followers John Egedc, the first missionary to Greenland, who went thither in 1721. John Egedc had to struggle with great difficulties, which he evcntuatly overcame by the enlightened libe­ rality of King Frederick the fourth, who distinguished himself by being the first Protestant Prince that sent Missionaries to India. Is a village situated about six Miles from the Ca­ pital, and consists of about one thousand individuals; at tlio eml of this village is the Palace of Sorgcnfri, the summer .residence of His Royal Highness Prince Christian of Denmark; it is erected on a hill* with a line terrace before it, and commands' a very pleasing ' • ■• * V view; the grounds have the advantage of a fine piece of water, and in the garden arc two Monuments erected to the memory of the Father and Mother of Ilis Royal Highness. The environs are beautiful, and Frcderiksdahl, si­ tuated near it, beyond doubt is one of the finest; and most picturesque spots in Zealand. Not far Distant is the Royal Park, in the centre of which is a hunting Palace, called the Hermitage; i f is situated on an eminence, nnd commands a fine view % , . of the Sound.
