Copenliagen-Frcdcnsborg Trains depart from the main station, and stations Norreport and Østerport nearly every hour. Distance 39 km. About 3.000 inhabitants. Fredensborg is situated on the eastern shore o f the Esrum lake, and consists nearly exelusevely o f villas. Fredensborg Slot (the castle) Built by King Frederik IV in Italian baroque in 1720-24 in memory o f the conclusion o f peace after the Great Northern wars, hence the naine, meaning “ castle o f peace” . Now used by the royal family as residence in spring and autumn. When uninhabited, the castle is open for the public 10 a. m.-6 p. m., apply to the caretaker.
