This, in the mean­ time, a few years ago, by sa­ crifices from the municipality and some private men, was torn down to make room for the modern C ity-quarter, now a big busines-quarter, domi­ nated by the big store of Crome <6 Goldschmidt, Ltd. (see chapter 8) a large com­ plex from the corner of Oster­ gade to Antoniegade.

Some other firms still have their rooms in this complex, as f. i. the wine-business of high standing, the Kjccr tt Sommerfeldts kgl. Uofvinhan- del; but before long the big store will occupy all rooms. On corner Antoniegade and Cammed Mont, a continuation of K risten Bernikowgade, is the Kvindelig Licscforcnings Bygning (Womans Club and Library) and further down in Vognmagergade can be seen the monumental building of the municipal lighting. To the right the modern Chri­ stian IX Cade leads to Go- thersgade and the entrance to Kongens Hare (see map. 5). After this little detour, we retu rn to our starting-point, Ostergade. Opposite the corner of Crome and Goldschmidt,
